Be ready for your map quiz tomorrow! Study the land forms and the states; make sure your spelling is accurate on your maps. You will be able to use your maps tomorrow; next week, you will take the same test without the maps!

Today in class we started Unit 1 in our literature book and talked about conflict and plot. We also made sure that our reading logs were up to date and included author information before we started reading the books we have chosen for independent reading.

In Social Studies, we practiced taking notes in two columns, and completed another section on The Middle Ages and Life on a Manor (pages 19 and 20).

Period 3 - We read for 10 minutes at the beginning of class in our independent reading books and talked about why reading is important. Students earned points for having their books in class. We started Unit 1 in our Literature books (pages) and brainstormed in our table groups about "What makes a great story?"

Period 5 and 6 - We read for the first 10 minutes of 5th period, and turned in samples of Cornell Notes and our reading logs. These were checked and passed back. Students received points for having their books in class and the author information filled out on their reading logs.

We began Unit 1 in our Literature books and discussed setting up a place in our binders for Academic and Vocabulary in Context. We brainstormed in small groups about "What makes a great story" and shared elements we discovered with the class. We also shared titles of great stories we have read (or watched!)

We visited the computer lab and practiced accessing our online Social Studies books. Please see codes at the top of today's posting.

The Map Quiz is tomorrow- know both spelling and locations for states and land forms!
