Periods 1 and 2
We finished our story, "The Ransom of Red Chief" in our lit books and worked on vocabulary words from that selection. We practiced finding definitions and antonyms for the 8 vocabulary words. We will have a quiz over those words on Thursday; we have the practice sheet in our binders under "Vocabulary Words"
Period 3
We finished our story, "The Ransom of Red Chief" in our lit books. We took a comprehension quiz when we finished and then worked on vocabulary words from that selection. Period 5 and 6
We read and completed the selection beginning on page 147 in our Daybooks, identifying elements of story and sharing with the class. We then worked on academic vocubulary terms and were introduced to this week's vocabulary in context. There will be a quiz over the vocab from "The Ransom of Red Chief" on Thursday.
We watched a powerpoint and took notes about the Renaissance and the Bubonic Plague, then worked to create skits about different aspects of Columbus' journey to the New World.
