Period 1 -2
We finished working on our Unit Focus Questions - we will continue scored discussion tomorrow. Also, we worked on our Social Studies Westward Expansion project....due on the Tuesday after Spring Break.

Period 3
Scored discussions! Two more to go tomorrow!

Period 5 -6
We finished up our scored discussions and discussed compromises.

Period 1 - 2

We worked in the lab on our Tom Sawyer questions. They are due tomorrow, Thursday. We also postponed the due date for the Westward Expansion map project. That will now be due the Tuesday after Spring Break. (April 6).

Period 3 -
We began our Scored Discussions on Tom Sawyer. All who turned in their UFQ's today received extra credit points. All papers are due by tomorrow!

Period 5 - 6
We had most of our scored discussions today. Tomorrow we will finish up and continue our unit on Westward Expansion and the Civil War.
The Compromises paper will be due Thursday. Western Expansion maps are due on Friday.

Period 1 - 2
One more lab session to finish our unit focus questions. Scored discussion will begin on Thursday. Westward Expansion map project due on Friday! For those of you who didn't complete the Social Studies homework from Monday in class; complete questions 1&2 on pg 542, 1 - 3 on page 543 and 1-3 on page 544 (in your Social Studies book). Bring those to class on Wednesday!
Period 3
We completed working on our Unit Focus questions; scored discussions start tomorrow.

Period 5 - 6
We worked on our Unit Focus questions for Tom Sawyer - scored discussion begins tomorrow. Also, remember that your Westward Expansion maps are due on Friday!

ALL CLASSES!!! READING LOGS ARE DUE TOMORROW, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 17!!!!

Period 1 - 2
We finished Tom Sawyer!! We will continue working on our Unit Focus Questions. These are due next Wednesday. We also began working on our Westward Expansion Map Project. These are due a week from Friday (March 26).


Period 3 -

We finished Chapters 33 and 34 in Tom Sawyer. Tomorrow we will finish the book in class. Unit Focus Questions are due a week from Wednesday, March 24.

Period 5 - 6
We finished Tom Sawyer and made sure we could see the conclusions to all four story lines by completing a worksheet on melodrama. We had 6th period in the lab to work on our Unit Focus Questions and our Westward Expansion maps/paragraphs.

Period 1-2
We took our vocab test; read Tom Sawyer Chapter 32 and practiced reading functional documents. In Social Studies, we finished our maps on the Monroe Doctrine. We will complete these on Monday and begin our new Unit on Westward Expansion.

Period 3 -
We took our vocab test and comprehension test on Chapter 32 - Good work, class! We also read a "functional document" and practiced answering questions after reading. Tom Sawyer returns on Monday, with Chapter 33.

We read Chapter 31 in Tom Sawyer, and practiced vocab sentences. In Social Studies, we began Chapter 12, learning about the Monroe Doctrine. Vocab test tomorrow on words 41-49; we will continue working on our Monroe Doctrine Maps....

Period 3 -

We read most of Chapter 32 in Tom Sawyer...complete tonight and be ready for a quiz tomorrow...as well as your normal vocab quiz (words 50-59!)

Period 5 - 6

We read Chapter 32 in Tom Sawyer; be ready for a comprehension quiz tomorrow, as well as your vocab test!
In Social STudies, complete pages 364-367 in your SS books; answer questions 1-2 on page 366 and questions 2 and 3 on page 367.

We watched a "teaser" for the PLMS play and worked on questions 1-4 (Understanding Main Ideas) in the Chapter Review for Chapter 11. We will have an open note test tomorrow. Vocab test this Friday on words 40-49 ----

Period 3 -

We read Chapter 30 in Tom Sawyer and also had 10 minutes of Independent Reading time; your reaading logs for Tri 2 are due on Wednesday, March 17.

Period 1 - 2

We practiced vocab sentences for words 41-49; We read Tom Sawyer Chapter 29 and completed questions for Chapter 11.4 in our Social Studies book.

Period 3 -
We read Tom Sawyer Chapter 28 and 29. We reviewed vocab words 50-59 - the quiz will be this Friday. We also discussed moral dilemmas in small groups and shared with the class at the end of the period.

Period 5 - 6

We read Chapters 28 and 29 in Tom Sawyer, discussed the Unit Focus Questions and the upcoming scored discussion, and began studying vocab words 50 - 59.
Homework for tonight: Complete the vocab sentences for words 50-59. Remember to leave a blank for the vocab word in your sentence and provide a key on the back of your paper. For Social Studies, complete questions 1,2 and 3 on page 355.

Period 1 - 2
We read Tom Sawyer Chapter 26 and discussed the new story line --- "Buried Treasure"! No spellingn tomorrow - we are working on vocab words 41-49 for next week.

Social Studies - We took notes on a powerpoint of Chapter 11.1 - Judicial Review -- and discussed how this applies to us today.

Period 3 -
SSR for 10 minutes (Reading Logs for Tri 2 are due March 17!)
We turned in comic strips, vocab sentences and "Hero" papers
We read Chapters 24 and 25 in Tom Sawyer.

Period 5 - 6
SSR - 10 minutes! Reading logs for Tri 2 are due March 17. We paired up and practiced with our vocab sentences and looked for key grammar components in our sentences.
Tom Sawyer - We read Chapter 27 out loud and discussed UFQ's

Period 1 - 2
We reviewed our vocab words (41-49)- no test this week - those words will be on a test NEXT Friday. We practiced writing definitions and sentences. We read Chapter 24 in Tom Sawyer (the trial!) Thanks to Ian for playing the part of Injun Joe! In Social Studies, we completed our Louisiana Purchase maps.

Period 3
We read Tom Sawyer Chapter 23 and discussed what it was Twain was trying to say. We worked on our three assignments that are due tomorrow (Vocab, A Hero for All Seasons,and the comic strip of Chapter 22 - the joke played on the teacher).

Period 5 - 6
We read Chapter 27 out loud (great job to the readers today!) and discussed the next story line that was revealed. We practiced our vocab words (41-49)- sentences and definitions due tomorrow!
We finished our worksheets on conflict in our small groups and completed our Louisiana Purchase maps - if you didn't complete yours, they are due tomorrow at the beginning of class!

Period 1 - 2
We listened to the CD of Tom Sawyer Chapter 23. We discussed what we think Twain was trying to tell us in that Chapter. Tomorrow - the trial!

In Social Studies, we completed our outlines and worked on our maps of Lewis and Clark's expedition and the Louisiana Purchase.

Period 3 -

Lots of assignments to finish up - we decided on Thursday for an absolute due date for everything! Here are the assignments:

Complete vocab definitions and sentences for words 50-59 (the test will be next week!)
Finish the comic strip for Chapter 22
Finish the handout on chivalry (A Hero for all Seasons). For that assignment, you are choosing seven elements of the chivalric code and checking off the ones that Tom Sawyer fulfills. We will check in on him at the end of the novel and see if he grew or changed!)

Period 5 - 6
We started with SSR - all reading pages are due by Wednesday, March 17 - for Trimester 2.

We read Tom Sawyer Chapter 25 and began working on conflicts in the novel in small groups. Vocab words 41-49 were assigned; the test will be on Friday. Vocab words, definitions and sentences are due this Thursday. Also due Thursday: the map of the Louisiana Purchase.
