Periods 1 and 2

We checked our reading logs and read in our independent reading books for 10 minutes. We then brainstormed a perfect plan for a party, and thought about all the ways things could go wrong. We learned about the author, O. Henry, and began reading his story about "The Ransom of Red Chief" in our Lit. Books. It tells about a kidnapping that did NOT go according to plan! We learned that philoprogenitiveness means "brotherly love"....We read to page 51 and will finish this story on Monday.

In Social Studies we took notes on Chapter 1.3, learning about the Knights of the Middle Ages, serfs and lords. In addition, we organized our binders and made sure our Social Studies notes are easy to find and in order. We will use them for our first unit test, so it is important to keep them exactly where we want them!
