Block I
We learned about the Electoral College and worked on understanding the details about that system. We worked on our thesis sentences for our Comparison/Contrast essays in the computer lab.Also tomorrow, the C/C essays are due! Include rough draft, peer editing and the final in your turn in packets!

We reviewed our analysis of the Articles of Confederation and determined which we believed to be the biggest problems for the new US. We went to the computer lab to begin working on our Comparison/Contrast essays - rough drafts are due next Tuesday.

We had a mini-lesson on Comparison/Contrast essay writing. Review pages 427-429 in your Lit Book for additional review. Brainstorms are due at the beginning of class tomorrow - Venn Diagrams or another graphic organizer that shows the similarities and differences between your two subjects. I have attached rubrics and assignment details to this webiste. Look under the Files Tab!

We read aloud from The Outsiders and did a quick write... See me for details if you were absent! We also reviewed vocabulary.

We talked about the gift drive - Thursday is the last day to donate to our family! Remember - we need baby clothes for a 9 month old girl - size 12 months!

We took our Unit 3 Social Studies test; we read aloud Chapter 3 in the Outsiders and completed a group character analysis - we will share these in class tomorrow!

Period 3
We read Chapter 3 and 4 in the Outsider's and completed group character sketches of our assigned characters.

Block II

We took our Unit 3 Social Studies test; we read aloud Chapter 3 and 4 in the Outsiders and began working on our vocab words and thinking about two subjects we would like to compare and contrast for our next writing project.

We took a quiz over Chapter 7.4 in Social Studies, read our class novel out loud in class; took notes on Chapter 7.5 for Social Studies and practiced identifying sentence fragments and run ons in our grammar lesson.

Period 3
We read aloud in our class novel and completed a compare/contrast activity with the characters in the book.

Block II
We took a quiz over Chapter 7.4 in Social Studies, read our class novel out loud in class and created character profiles and burning questions for each of the main characters; took notes on Chapter 7.3 and 7.5 for Social Studies and began to prep for our Unit 3 test (chapters 6 and 7) scheduled for Monday.

We visited the library to check out and renew books - we will read 1000 pages or minutes again this trimester; the reading logs are in the classroom and available on my website if you want to download one and print it at home.
We read through Chapter 2 in the Outsiders and began outlining Chapter 7.4; there will be a quiz over that section tomorrow, so be prepared!

Period 3

We read through part of Chapter 2 in the Outsiders and turned in our analysis of "Paul Revere's Ride". In Social Studies, we took notes on Chapter 7.4 - short quiz tomorrow on that chapter without notes! You will turn them in, though, for credit.
