Period 1 and 2
We read our independent reading books, read along with a tape of Chapter 1 in Tom Sawyer, filled out a character chart, received our new vocabulary lists/dictionaries and practiced pronouncing our first 10 vocab words from our Tom Sawyer vocab unit. THE VOCAB TEST THIS WEEK WILL BE ON FRIDAY, NOT THURSDAY! You should also continue working on/thinking about your expository essay, which will be due next Wednesday. In Social Studies, we continued to work on the Constitution, and were each assigned one amendment to research and share with the class on Friday.

Period 3

Period 5 and 6
We role played "Checks and Balances", examining how each branch of government can hold each other "in check". Extra credit for tonight; Can you find anything about how Washington state is seeking to change some of it's tax laws? What are our congress people seeking to tax in the future?
We also corrected our amemendments work sheet;

In LA, we read Chapter 2 in Tom Sawyer and discussed the difference between work and play, and how something becomes more valuable the harder it is to attain.....We also received our Tom Sawyer vocab/dictionary lists.

Reminders: The Amendment assignment is due this Friday; the vocab test on the first 10 words in the dictionary handout will also be this Friday; the expository essay will be due next Wednesday. There will be lab time for working on either of those two assignments this Thursday and next Tuesday.
