Period 1 and 2

We took our vocab test today and completed our first three week reading log in class. We turned those in for up to 10 points each. Keep reading over break - you have a 800 page outside reading requirement this trimester!

Period 5-6
Today we took our vocab test, did an in class timed write, took notes on the Articles of Confederation and turned in homework! WOW! Tomorrow, we will read those essays you wrote and maybe celebrate the coming break!

In Social Studies, we took notes and watched a ppt presentation on Chapter 8.1.

Period 1 and 2
We went over the antonyms for the vocab words on page 693 in our lit books. We also discussed the various responses to "The Lady or the Tiger". The quiz over those words will be on Thursday.
In Social Studies, we discussed the Articles of Confederation and completed an activity with our clock buddies on that topic. Each of you came up with your list of the Top 5 problems with the Aricles.

Period 3

Period 1 and 2
We took our Unit 3 Social Studies test; corrected tests should be back by next Wednesday. We have nearly finished our reading of the Outsiders; we will complete that next week.

Period 3 -We read aloud in class today; practicing our expression/reading comprehension. Do you know what PROSIDY means? We will talk about that on Monday. No week end homework except to make sure you are working toward your 800 page reading goal for this trimester.

Period 5 -6
We took the Social Studies Unit 3 test; finished the Outsiders and turned in our LitBook homework (page 692, questions 5 and 9).

Period 1 and 2We prepared for the Social Studies test tomorrow - we received a review sheet and went over how to write notes on a note card. You will be able to use the card for the test tomorrow! We also read outloud from the Outsiders;and participated in our SSR reading, reflection and sharing activity.


Period 3
We all participated in SSR, and filled out our classroom reading logs. In addition, we read aloud from the Outsiders.

Period 5 and 6
We participated in SSR - reading, reflecting (writing) and sharing with a partner. We also went over the All School Read and discussed/debated differing answers we had to some of the questions. I will report back our findings to the All School Read Committee. Homework for tomorrow: complete the questions from "Lady or the Tiger?" (#5 and #9) and be prepared for your Unit Three Social Studies Test. Band members - I heard you sounded great at Seattle Center! Did you all wear your Santa hats?

Periods 1 and 2
We completed and turned in Social Studies assignments today - (Chapter 7.5 - 1,2,3 and 4) and the Revolutionary War map. Due tomorrow - page 214 the IPI questions
(1-10) and YBH (#1) and TC (#1). Look at the headings on the questions on page 214 and you will see what the initials stand for! We will create note cards in class tomorrow to use for our Unit 3 test on Friday!
Period 3 -
No homework tonight! We read aloud in class for fluency practice. Tomorrow; SSR with our in class logs! Be prepared with your books!

Period 5 -6

We received our review sheets for our test Friday; we talked about how to write content specific answers for Social Studies tests. We also read through the review questions and discussed them in class. In LA - we re-visited the lady or tiger question; for Friday, please answer questions 5 and 9 on page 692 -

Sorry for the lack of posts! I have been out at district trainings and had subs for Friday and Monday! Here is the updates for everyone!

Period 1 and 2
Everyone should have completed their Rev. War maps and turned them in - they are due tomorrow if you still have them at home or need to complete them. In Social Studies,

In Language Arts, we had our second SSR reading time in class; we generated higher level questions/comments/connections and shared them with partners; four students were then chosen to share about whtat their partners had told them. Remember to bring your independent reading books to class on Thursday for our next SSR session.

In Social Studies, we will have our Review on Thursday and our Unit Three (Chapters 6-7) test on Friday. If you just joined the class at the Trimester, you will not be taking this test. Chapter 7.5 questions 1,2,3 and 4 are due tomorrow; there will be some time in class to work.



Period 3 -

We read aloud in class today; tomorrow we will discuss the Lady or the Tiger: make sure that I have your predictions by the beginning of class. I have nearly everyone's prediction already, but there are a few missing.


Period 5 and 6
Lots of Social Studies to complete: all back assignments are due tomorrow. We will have our Social STudies Unit 3 (Chapters 6&7) test Friday. Band members should stop by on Thursday for any assignments they need to pick up for study notes.

We discussed our independent reading program for second trimester, took a visit to the library to find books at our AR levels, and practiced reading outloud for fluency.

Period 3
Reading program started today for Trimester 2 - we visited the library and spent time looking for books that fit our AR levels.

Period 5 - 6
Library to search for books for Trimester 2 Independent Reading; we turned in our paragraphs on the Declaration of Independence and took notes on a ppt presentation on the Revolutionary War.

We reviewed and corrected our assignment on the Declaration of Independence; discussed independent reading for Tri II and practiced reading fluency in class. We have a visit to the library scheduled for tomorrow, so bring your ASB card!

We completed pages 93-95 in our daybooks and turned them in for the trimester check.
